IT'S JUST 41 DAYS (NO APRIL FOOLS DAY JOKE)
UNTIL ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED FOR THE 28TH BAJA HA-HA
The Turtle Bay Beach Party
Where the women have a 16-year winning streak over the men in the tug-o-war contest.
We probably don't have to explain that the Baja Ha-Ha is the 750-mile cruisers' rally from San Diego to Cabo San Lucas.
Unlike the great sailing events to Hawaii, the Ha-Ha has two R&R stops: at fun and funky Turtle Bay and pristine Bahia Santa Maria.
There are also numerous significant social events as part of the Ha-Ha.
- A kick-off costume party? Of course.
- A fireboat send-off from San Diego? Almost surely.
- A cruiser versus locals bazeball game in Turtle Bay, where nobody can strike out and where women and children are always safe? Naturally.
- A live rock 'n roll band at ultra remote Bahia Santa Maria? Si.
- A dance-off and popcorn throw at Squid Roe? Of yes, and they'll be waiting for us.
- A Here to Eternity Kissing Contest in the surf at Medano Beach? Si, si, si!
Is it any wonder that over 10,000 sailors have done the Ha-Ha in the first 27 years, and most of them have made new lifetime friends?
So this is a friendly reminder that registration opens at noon on May 11. The earlier you sign up, the higher you are on the list to get a berth in Cabo — although nothing is guaranteed.
The Ha-Ha departs San Diego on October 31.
