BITING HA-HA DOGS SO SOME
MEXICAN SCHOOLCHILDREN CAN HAVE LUNCH
The Grand Poobah of the Baja Ha-Ha loves to do charity events in Mexico because the need is so great and, unlike in the United States, the money goes so far.
For the last three Ha-Ha's the Poobah has bought a couple of hundred hot dogs and buns, sailed them down to Turtle Bay, and had Kurt and Pat of the Profligate crew prepare and sell them at the beach party.
Over the years Ha-Ha participants have gobbled them all up, paying $2 or more for a Ha-Ha Dog. Over the years two folks, however, have thrown in an extra $98 each. Many thanks.
A bit over $400 was raised during last year's Ha-Ha. It's the smallest of the Poobah and de Mallorca's fund-raising efforts in Mexico, only because of the limit on hot dogs that can be transported to Turtle Bay. But we're still proud of it.
Consumer/contributors rightly might wonder where the money has gone.
The second photo tells the story. It shows Dona de Mallorca handing the entire proceeds to Susan Bagley who, along with Diane Vogelman started the Feed the Children program in Punta Mita area.
Without their their help and the money they raise, and the Ha-Ha Hot Dog money, some of the young Mexican schoolchildren wouldn't get lunch.
If you're going to be doing this fall's Baja Ha-Ha, the 750-mile cruisers' rally from San Diego to Cabo San Lucas November 3-16, we hope you'll buy a dog and help feed a child in Mexico.
Information on the Baja Ha-Ha can be found at www.baja-haha.com. Registration begins May 8.
