BRINGING PEOPLE TOGETHER IS JUST ONE ASPECT OF MY
PURPOSE IN LIFE, WHICH IS TO HELP PEOPLE HAVE FUN
These photos were taken a few years ago at the From Here to Eternity Kissing Contest on Mendano Beach in Cabo San Lucas at the end of a Baja Ha-Ha.
The idea is for couples to embrace in front of everyone, and get so lost in their passion they don't realize they are being pummeled by the surf and sand is getting in body spots where it's not really welcome.
Thus mimicking the famous Burt Lancaster/Deborah Kerr seen from the movie Here to Eternity.
I came up with the idea about 15 years ago while walking on the bay side of Lover's Beach and seeing a panga full of tourists looking half asleep.
'I should give them something to talk about,' I said to myself.
So I grabbed the nearest woman— it was pure luck that it was Dona — threw her onto the sand, and smooched while rolling the two of us into the surf.
The people loved it.
So I incorporated it into the grand finale of the Ha-Ha Beach Party in Cabo San Lucas.
Because of Covid this year, there won't be a Ha-Ha and there won't be an official Here to Eternity Kissing Contest.
However, there is absolutely no reason that you can't organize your own contest.
Remember, you want to live as hard as you can for as long as you can, and this is all part of it.
